What is Carmabi?

Applied research on conservation and ecological management-related topics, involving marine and terrestrial research.

What does Carmabi do?

  • Education (including a program reaching 15-20 thousand school children a year);
  • Natural resource management (over the years, the organisation has brought about the establishment of nine sanctuaries and parks in the Netherlands Antilles and it currently remains encharged with the day-to-day management of five such projects in Curaçao);
  • Scientific research can be identified as a core activity, because it is essential for nature education and natural resource management;
  • CARMABI has produced over a hundred publications on the unique nature of the Netherlands Antilles.
