What is Diergaarde Blijdorp?
Diergaarde Blijdorp works to support and propagate nature conservation.
What does Diergaarde Blijdorp do?
- Breeding and conservation of endangered animal species (more than 70 international breeding programmes);
- Creating public awareness for the value of nature and its species through exposition of animals in their natural environment;
- Education in nature conservation with e.g. explanatory information signs;
- Applied scientific research in reproduction, behaviour, nutrition and medical care (in co-operation with other zoos, Stichting Nationaal Onderzoek Dierentuinen -Foundation National Research Zoos- universities and nature conservation organisations);
- Support of nature conservation projects all over the world (through the Bernhardine Fund in co-operation with Stichting Dierentuinen Helpen, a foundation of the co-operating zoos).
