In the vision of IUCN NL civil society organisations are of fundamental importance to safeguard nature. The small grants programmes were created to support local NGOs.

Small grants for the Purchase of Nature (SPN) enables local partners to take direct action and save nature. SPN provides funds for the purchase and protection of threatened wildlife habitats and vulnerable ecosystems.

The Tourism and Biodiversity Fund is part of the Ecosystem Grants Programme (EGP) of IUCN NL and supported projects that use tourism for the conservation of local biodiversity and ecosystems.
